Weekly sales report template: activity, results, next week

A weekly report is read in two minutes or not at all. It compares the week with the plan, names what is at risk, and says what happens next week.

Updated 13 October 2026 Reading time: 7 minutes
In short

A weekly sales report summarises one rep's week: visits against plan, orders, deals opened or moved, risks and the plan for next week.

It is built from the visit reports of the week, not rewritten from memory, and it ends with what the rep needs from the manager.

What a weekly sales report is for

A weekly sales report is the short summary a rep or agent produces at the end of each week: activity against plan, results, changes in open deals, risks and the plan for the following week. Its reader is the manager, who uses it to prepare the sales meeting.

It is not a list of every visit; those are in the visit reports. It is the reading of the week: what went as planned, what did not, and what needs a decision.

A filled example

FieldExample
Rep and weekJ. Morgan (fictional), North-East territory, week 41, 5 to 9 October 2026
Visits19 done out of 22 planned; 3 missed (two class C, one class B, rescheduled)
Orders7 orders, €9,450 in total, an average of €1,350
Deals3 proposals sent, €12,600 in total; one deal lost on price
RisksClass A account: new buyer, no meeting yet; one promise overdue (price list not sent)
Next weekMeet the new buyer; follow up the three proposals; two prospecting days in the east
Help neededApproval of a discount above my limit for one proposal

Check: €9,450 ÷ 7 orders = €1,350; 22 − 19 = 3 visits missed. All data in this example is fictional.

How to use it

  1. Fix the reporting day. The same day and time every week, before the sales meeting.
  2. Build it from the visit reports. Visits, orders and deals come from what was recorded during the week.
  3. Compare with the plan. Visits done against visits planned, and the accounts that were missed.
  4. Name the risks. Accounts at risk and promises overdue, each in one line.
  5. Commit to next week. Key visits and aims, so that next week's report can be read against them.
  6. Ask for help explicitly. One line on what the rep needs; the manager answers at the meeting.

Common mistakes

  • Retyping the week. A report rewritten from memory differs from the visit reports.
  • Activity without results. Twenty visits say nothing without the orders and deals they produced.
  • No comparison with the plan. Visits done mean little without visits planned.
  • Hiding bad news. A lost deal reported late cannot be saved.
  • A report nobody answers. If the help asked for gets no reply, the field stops being filled.

The template works in both. This compares categories of tools, not products: any given product may differ from these general tendencies.

What SalesIro brings

The features that fill in or replace this template, all taken from the public feature list (59 features, 3 of them marked “to be activated”):

  • Management console: projected landing, coverage, frequency and alerts by scope;
  • Performance and ranking: target attainment, monthly revenue and pipeline by rep;
  • Stage-based pipeline: deals by stage, with date slippage tracked;
  • Tracked promises: promises overdue, without searching;
  • Delegated discount limits: the discount limit, and escalation beyond it.

The same data can be queried from an AI assistant — Claude, ChatGPT, Le Chat or Perplexity — through the MCP server for AI assistants, with a key or an OAuth connection. A question such as “summarise my week: visits against plan, orders, and promises overdue” is answered from your own data, without an export. Every read is written to the access log, and access rules still apply: a rep's assistant only sees that rep's accounts.

How the templates fit together is explained in field sales templates: the complete set.

Frequently asked questions

What should a weekly sales report include?

Visits against plan, orders and their value, changes in open deals, risks, the plan for next week and what the rep needs from the manager.

How long should a weekly sales report be?

Short enough to read in a couple of minutes: a few lines per field. The detail stays in the visit reports.

Who reads the weekly sales report?

The manager, who uses it to prepare the sales meeting and to answer requests for help before they become problems.

Should independent agents send a weekly report?

That depends on the contract. Many principals agree a lighter report with agents, focused on accounts, orders and market information.
