A sales meeting agenda lists, for one team meeting, the items to cover, the time for each, what must be read beforehand and the decisions expected.
Figures are read before the meeting, not presented during it; the meeting is for deciding.
What a sales meeting agenda is for
A sales meeting agenda is the document, sent before a team meeting, that lists each item with its time, its owner, what participants must read beforehand and the decision expected. It turns a meeting into a sequence of decisions rather than a series of updates.
The same template serves a weekly team meeting, a monthly review or a meeting with independent agents; only the items and their length change.

Copy the fields below in this order: the first column becomes the heading, the second says what goes in it, the third why the field exists. Remove a field you have no use for; add one your business needs.
| Field | What to write | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Meeting | Team, date, start and end time, place or link | Everyone knows when and where |
| Purpose | One sentence: what the meeting must decide | Keep the meeting on track |
| To read beforehand | Weekly reports, dashboard, list of deals at risk | Spend the meeting deciding, not reading |
| Items | Each item with its start time and length | Hold the timing |
| Owner per item | Who presents and who decides | No item without someone responsible |
| Decision expected | What must be decided under each item | Know when an item is finished |
| Actions | Each decision: what, who, by when | What the meeting produced |
A filled example
| Start | Length | Item |
|---|---|---|
| 09:00 | 10 min | Last week in figures |
| 09:10 | 20 min | Deals at risk |
| 09:30 | 25 min | Accounts overdue |
| 09:55 | 20 min | One practice topic |
| 10:15 | 10 min | Decisions and owners |
| 10:25 | 5 min | Next meeting |
| 10:30 | — | End |
Fictional weekly team meeting. Check: 10 + 20 + 25 + 20 + 10 + 5 = 90 minutes, from 09:00 to 10:30. All data in this example is fictional.
How to use it
- Write the purpose. One sentence on what the meeting must decide; if there is nothing to decide, cancel it.
- Send the agenda early. With the documents to read, at least a day before.
- Time every item. A start time and a length; the total must match the meeting.
- Name an owner per item. Who presents, who decides.
- Close each item with a decision. Or with a dated step to reach one.
- Send the actions. Within the day: what, who, by when; reread them at the next meeting.
Common mistakes
- Reading figures aloud. Everyone can read; the meeting should discuss what the figures mean.
- A round of updates. Each rep talking in turn fills the time without deciding anything.
- No timing. The first item takes the whole meeting.
- Decisions without owners. “We should” is not an action.
- Actions never reread. If last week's actions are not checked, they stop being done.
Spreadsheet or tool
The template works in both. This compares categories of tools, not products: any given product may differ from these general tendencies.
| Aspect | Spreadsheet or document | Field sales tool |
|---|---|---|
| Agenda | A document sent by email | A document; the figures come from the tool |
| Figures to read | Collected from each rep before the meeting | Dashboard and pipeline up to date |
| Deals at risk | Listed by hand | Overdue promises and stalled deals listed |
| Actions | Minutes in a file | Actions assigned with a due date |
| Follow-up | Reread the minutes | Actions completed or overdue, visible to all |
What SalesIro brings
The features that fill in or replace this template, all taken from the public feature list (59 features, 3 of them marked “to be activated”):
- Management console: the figures read before the meeting, by scope;
- Committed forecast: what will close, separated from poorly qualified deals;
- Assigned actions: actions assigned with what is expected and the completion criterion;
- Field coaching: observation checklist, strengths and next check-in;
- Visit frequency: the accounts overdue, ready for the agenda.
The same data can be queried from an AI assistant — Claude, ChatGPT, Le Chat or Perplexity — through the MCP server for AI assistants, with a key or an OAuth connection. A question such as “list the deals expected this month that have not moved for three weeks” is answered from your own data, without an export. Every read is written to the access log, and access rules still apply: a rep's assistant only sees that rep's accounts.

Frequently asked questions
What should a sales meeting agenda include?
The purpose, what to read beforehand, each item with its time and owner, the decision expected for each item, and a slot to agree actions with owners and dates.
How long should a weekly sales meeting be?
There is no fixed length; set it from the items and their timing, and end on time. If there is nothing to decide, the meeting can be skipped.
Should figures be presented in a sales meeting?
They should be read beforehand. The meeting is for discussing what the figures mean and deciding what to do.
Can independent agents attend the same sales meeting?
They can be invited, but they are not employees: many principals hold a separate meeting with agents, focused on products, accounts and market information.
